Honk!
Yesterday I went to the Honk! festival parade, which ran from Davis Square to Harvard Square on Mass Ave. The music was big fun and made me wish I had come Saturday to just listen to the bands (Saturday I went to the Fuller Craft museum, and maybe I’ll post about that too). I wanted to draw the parade, because artistically very few things excite me more than people dressed in funny costumes!
I started out in Porter Square and tried to draw the parade as it came down Beech St. and turned onto Mass. Ave.
Coming to the end of the parade
I forgot how hard it is to draw a parade as it goes by. It’s just way too fast. The easier way to draw a parade, as I rediscovered, is to walk along with it.
The parade ended at, and dissolved into, Harvard Square’s Oktoberfest celebrations. I grabbed some lunch and then wandered over to draw some of the Honk! folks who were hanging out in the little park at JFK & Mass. Ave:
Awesome – love your drawings!!
