Original Art for sale
In most cases I'm quite willing to sell my originals. Of course I have favorites that I plan to keep, but I only have so much space in my house to hang my own art, so I'm happy to have some of it hanging in other people's houses. I do ask you to sign a standard form stating that I retain the copyright, and that in the unlikely event that I need to re-scan the art, you will lend it back to me. (I might also ask you to lend it back for an exhibition, but the form does not bind you to doing so, and again this is rather unlikely because I have plenty of other art to choose from.) The prices below are a guideline. If you have questions about a specific piece, or are ready to buy, email me.
Beowulf Originals:
Part 1 - Ink on bristol board, 11x17 art area on 14x17 board - $250
Part 2 - Ink, watercolor and acrylic on 9x12 wood panels (birch plywood or 1" maple) - $800-1000
Part 3 - Ink & dye wash on cotton bristol, 11x17 art area on 14x17 board - $800
King Lear Originals:
Ink and watercolor (some have acrylic, dye, color pencil) on multimedia drawing paper, 10x13...
Lear is an odd case. I did the art in large multimedia sketchbooks. Some pieces I tore out for the coloring process, but much of it is still in these sketchbooks.
In cases where no pages have been removed from the middle of a sketchbook, I'd prefer to keep them intact for now.
Also, some of the pages are partially computer colored, or colored with Dr. Martin's Dyes, which are not colorfast.
So, prices range from $200 for partially-colored, free-floating pages, to $400 for dye-colored pages, to $600 for fully-colored pages that are detached or detachable, to $8,000+ for entire sketchbooks of 15-20 pages.
Merchant of Venice Originals:
Venice scenes - Ink on white watercolor paper, 11x15 $250
Belmont scenes - Ink, white charcoal (a few have ink wash) on grey paper, 11x15 - $350
(Note: many of the Venice scenes do not have backgrounds, as those were composited in digitally. They do have pale blue guides that show how the background is to be positioned, and I also have the actual location drawings from Venice which ink on paper, 9x12, in the $150 range (example).
